Our Google Pixel 4 video review is up
9 December 2019, 11:40 pm

Google's Pixel 4 is like the Pixel 4 XL, only smaller... is what Google wants you to think. Yes, that's true of most things, and whether that's a win or a loss is up to you. Where the two models differ is - obviously from the spec sheet - the screen and the battery. In our full video review of the smaller Pixel 4, we take a look at how the device makes do with the hand it's been dealt by its Google overlords. We also cover everything that makes this phone stand out from the increasingly crowded pack. In the end, though, we feel like Google wasted a lot of opportunities here to...

AnTuTu announces the best performing Android phones for November
9 December 2019, 7:50 pm

AnTuTu published two Top 10 charts listing the best performing phones in the flagship and mid-range segments. These charts are based on data collected between November 1 and November 30. In the flagship segment, the Asus ROG Phone II climbed to the top, followed closely by a pack of OnePlus phones and a Realme. The Top 10 looks quite different than it did back in November. Still, this is a clear case of Snapdragon dominance, the first non-Qualcomm chipset is the Exynos 9825 powering the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, which came in at #10. The mid-range segment is ruled by Redmi Note 8 Pro,...

Samsung to use MediaTek 5G chipsets for its low-end smartphones
9 December 2019, 6:50 pm

MediaTek went out and announced its high-end Dimensity 1000 5G-capable chipset just recently and the company also unveiled its budget-friendly 5G solutions with model numbers MT6885 and MT6873. These chips will likely appear on future Oppo, vivo, Xiaomi and even Huawei phones but according to people familiar with the matter, Samsung is forming a partnership with the Taiwanese company as well. Reportedly, Samsung is already negotiating with MediaTek for the low-end 5G chips for some of its Galaxy A and M models. This is in line with Samsung's attempts to outsource some of the...

A feature unique to the Pixel 4 duo zooms in on your face during the call and tracks you as you move. If someone...

Up until now the device was only offered in its 12/512GB trim across Europe but starting today Asus is bringing two more varieties. Asus is naming these versions STRIX and Ultimate Edition. Huawei will build more HarmonyOS devices next year and sell them globally
9 December 2019, 4:50 pm

Huawei is planning to release more devices powered by HarmonyOS next year and will market them globally. However, there are no plans to switch its phones, tablets and computers over to the in-house OS. The company already stated that it will not release a Harmony phone this year and it looks like there won't be one next year either. It will release peripheral products like smartwatches, though (the current breed of Huawei smartwatches run Lite OS). Huawei is also planning on building smart speakers and VR devices that will run Harmony. Smart TVs too, of course, like the Honor Vision, which...

Samsung Galaxy S11+ may come with a custom 108MP sensor
9 December 2019, 3:50 pm

So far, only a couple of smartphones with Samsung's new 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX have come out and all of them from Xiaomi. And it's no secret anymore that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S11-lineup will most likely come equipped with the said sensor, but this is not entirely true, as it turns out. The Galaxy S11+ uses a 1 / 1.3-inch 108MP Samsung exclusive custom sensor, which is superior in quality to ISOCELL Bright HMX and has a high cost.— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) December 8, 2019 According to a reputable Samsung leakster on Twitter, the Galaxy S11+ will come with an exclusive, custom...

OnePlus TV gets Netflix app and a redesigned remote
9 December 2019, 2:50 pm

OnePlus has good news for prospective buyers of its new television. The first one is that the TV now finally comes with the Netflix app pre-installed. This was one of our complaints when we reviewed the television back in October and we are glad to see it being resolved. However, the lack of Netflix was nothing compared to the atrocity that was the remote control design. But in a completely unexpected move, OnePlus has decided to redesign the remote from scratch and offer it as replacement to current owners. The previous remote had multiple issues with it; the body was too small...

We reported that vivo is planning to rebrand its FuntouchOS interface to Jovi OS, and we even saw a smartphone with the pre-launch version of the UI. A new version of FuntouchOS will be revealed on December 16, when the vivo X30 series will be announced. The machine-translated...

Prices of Galaxy S10 lite, Note10 lite, Galaxy A71 and A51 appear on online retailer
9 December 2019, 12:25 pm

The Samsung Galaxy A (2020) phones will be unveiled this Thursday, but a Slovakian retailer couldn't wait this long and put up pages for the Galaxy A51 through A91. The pages were clearly placeholders, though someone forgot to hide the prices. The Samsung Galaxy A91 is rumored to sell under the name "Galaxy S10 lite" in some markets. It will be the priciest of the bunch, at €670 it's practically in flagship territory (then the S-series branding makes sense). The Galaxy A81 - aka Galaxy Note10 lite - will cost a tad more at €610. It's not exactly cheap, but it will be the most affordable...
